Breaking into the Comfort zones of Google.

Google as you know or as i accept is a company which produces some of the best products in the market.
It is a fact that Google provides the best or better technology,that is to express "among the Best" if not the 'Best'
and it does not have the reputation of crushing its competitors, rather it often out did its competition.Search engine was much faster than its competitors and thus word of mouth campaign did popularise it, and later Gmail by what it gave free and also the recognition , there was a time when Gmail account was the privilege of limited few , who's who of the world.Orkut ..... strangely there are contradictory opinions about facebook being better or, but in my Circle orkut is more popular.In 10 years its such a company that its a Dream company for many.

With all due respect to a Good Company here is a case study on Social Networking , Wikinomics,
and about breaking into the comfort zones of Google which it has implanted as feel good factor in people.

Scour.com which is a search engine which can be described as a search engine with Google , Yahoo and MSN put together to deliver the results in one single page with ranking of each of these search engine for each result by the side of the result.With add on of Voting and Commenting on the result. Its useful to to acknowledge irrelevant
links and dead links and also about seo tampering.but these may also be used for tampering.

Scour.com registeration was done based on a post in the IIT Delhi Community, thus it began with an intention to promote a venture by IITians.Scour was founded by five students (Vince Busam, Michael Todd, Dan Rodriques, Jason Droege and Kevin Smilak) from the Computer Science Dept. of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1997. Early 2008, as a service combining the three most used search engines; Google, Yahoo and Live.They plan to reward users with a certain point value for each search conducted through the scour toolbar.

Scour appears to be a product fit for a fight with the Giant.During registration invite was send across to my contact list.
31st of July there was 10 registrations from around 540 contact thus a 2% penetration. there was 2 users who searched with it. which is about .4%

1st of August following persuassions and explanation about scour and also about case study in progress.Registration rose to 18-20-25 after the mass mailer which was send to about 640 contacts of which some were mutiple emails of the same prospect.For convenience sake i take the 540 itself as the base thus the cumulative penetration as about 5% while the users using it went up from 12 to 17 which is around 3% as users
most popular complaint is speed.

2nd of August registrations are at 35 around 7% and there are around 26 who used search thus a 5% as users,
there was a complain of scour toolbar slowing down the system extremly to a point that it had to be installed.

3rd of August Registration are at 38 around 7.5% and there are around 28 users who used search thus almost 6% as users,but there is a notion in the market that cuil.com is going to gain marketshare.

4th of August Registration are at 44 around 9% and ther are about 34 users who used search thus almost 7% are users.Registration seem to be the most annoying thing to many and many have complained that registration is very slow.

5th of August Registation are at 54 around 11% and there are about 43 users who have used the search thus almost 8.5 % , plus point today was that i happened to come across people who were separately using Google and yahoo parallely thus for them this is a advantage.

There is also option to search by Scour, Google , Yahoo and MSN which means those folks who are into Google can have what they want.

6th of August Registration are at 65 which is about 13% and there are atleast 48 persons who have used atleast once which is about 10 % users. Approachability has become bleak as invite from each registrant reaches common friend thus its becoming like spam to some.Its turning into some kind of persuassions at times.

7th of August Registrations are at 69 which is about 14 % and there are atleast 50 people who have used atleast once which is about 10% users.There is n't significant progress in it.

8th of August Regsitrations grew by 2 and users by 2.Second mail was send across in a desperate attempt to keep the project live. Growth of registration and is a major concern.

This blog was locked by blogger until yesterday.Thus updates was not possible.
13th of August Registrations are at 79 registrations and the users are at 60 users who have used it atleast once.
that would be about 12%.There are 2 users with above 50 searches.

there was a user in a users network who has done already 500 Searches. A asset in a social network



The next phase of it is yet to come , but due to lack of threshold unable to proceed it.
